Mildly funky new tech/house/minimal number I'm working on. It's a bit rough and requires a little patience but actually has my voice in there at about the 3minute point! Headphones or decent speakers recommended. Opinions puhleez.
Whipped this up quickly today. I've always liked minimal tech/house music but have struggled with certain aspects of the production.
Here are some shots of the most recent live gig I performed at Glitch Bar in October. Big thanks to Jed (pictured in top photo) for organising the whole night. Was a great night, Zen Paradox performed a very well polished gig. I have a recording of my performance but am yet to render it to disk.
Here's a new track I've started working on on the weekend. I really like this track. I've got some vague ideas for a video clip which involves busy streets/machinery and traffic lights forming patterns of human faces.
A mate (Kurisu) and I went a wanderin' yesterday through a few galleries and nooks & crannies around Melbourne yesterday and made a few fun little discoveries.
The first couple of photos (by Kurisu) are of me standing in front of the illuminated pane of perspex which you can see in the two darker photos below.
These two were taken by yours truly. The lit panels are in the stairwell of a small building in Flinders Street, Melbourne.

Caught around the Fitzroy/Collingwood area these are a couple of excellent pieces.The funny little man who I imagine to be a Frenchman, I have as my wallpaper on my mobile phone.
Here's a pretty little drone-y ditty I've came up with yesterday after experimenting with a simple chord and echo effect. It needs some other sounds to make it fuller but you get the idea. Probably a good idea if you listen to it on headphones or decent (non-computer) speakers to get the full dynamic range. Would be curious to get some feedback.
This is the beginnings of a new track I did this morning (couldn't sleep). Like always, needs a bit more detail added to it but I quite like the mood. Quite spooky.
This is an updated version of the previously posted track. It's just a sketch which starts out a bit aimlessly but then becomes a bit more coherent. Probably a metaphor for my mental state/creative process. :P
Here's a new loop. I've finally accepted the fact that I really struggle trying to make traditional songs/composition and have succumbed to the allure of incident. I'm experimenting with new approaches and this particular loop contains a programmed 4/4 beat but all the other sounds are randomly triggered. I want to add some random bass line generator and more incidental noises. Actually the more I think about it the more I like John Cage's ideas of indeterminacy in music. Not too much though.
Lately I've been experimenting, trying to create some more interesting ambient textures. 'Like Water for Oil' is much closer to the kind of texture/effect I've been envisaging for a while. It's stylistically close to a couple of my favourite artists Thomas Fehlmann & Marc Leclair. You'll have to turn up the volume on it because I lazily didn't compress the audio. There's also quite a bit more detail I'd like to add to make it more interesting but you'll get the idea.
'Fold' is the beginnings of another track. This one has a nice chug to it however it's stuck half-way between an old and new approach to making music. The basis I like I just need to work on my technique.
